Hakka culture study (Ning Shibi and Peitian) study course (Sanming): teaching objectives, curriculum and task list
The study of Hakka culture starts from the Sanmingning fossil wall: students read about the route of the Hakka people’s migration from the Central Plains to the south, see the architectural expression of the family system in the Peitian ancient dwellings, and understand how “ancestral land” becomes cultural identity.
It is suitable for primary school and junior high school; it is more reasonable to cross the Ninghua-Liancheng 2-day line, and only take Shibijia County in a single day.
Teaching goals and literacy goals
- Historical context: Put the migration route on the map and understand the long period of time from the "Yiguan Nandu" to the Hakkas
- Cultural identity: understanding the contemporary significance of ancestral land from three aspects: ancestor worship, dialect, and food
- Art and music: Collect decorative themes and Hakka folk songs/opera elements to complete the re-creation
- Practical output: The group completed migration maps, dialect vocabulary collections and food files
Available school stages: primary school and junior high school. The teaching objectives are written into each plan hierarchically by school stage, and should be confirmed with the school before leaving the group.

Frequent issues between schools and parents
- Are the Hakka people the She people?
- No. The Hakka people are a Han ethnic group, characterized by their Hakka language and family system; the course will specifically analyze this common misunderstanding.
- Can I visit the ancestor worship ceremony?
- Ancestor worship activities are arranged by the organizer. We only arrange cultural visits in open areas and do not interfere with the ceremony.
